The idea

Gaines Kergosien began exploring a Nashville technical conference in 2013 after seeing that travel costs kept many local developers from regional events. The strongest value came not only from sessions, but from the people and conversations around them.

After DevLink ended in 2015, Gaines and Mary Kergosien worked with local volunteers, organizers, speakers, and sponsors to launch the first Music City Code at Lipscomb University on August 29, 2015.

Growing the community

Music City Code returned in 2016 and 2017. Music City Agile joined in 2016 under organizer Tommy Norman, and the event moved to Vanderbilt University in 2017. Music City Data, led by Kevin Kline, joined in 2018. Together, the three conferences became Music City Tech.

The latest published event

The conference paused in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and returned as a virtual event in 2021. The source site did not publish a later event, so this site preserves that history without suggesting that registration or a current programme is active.
